I Do Gaming for Sport #2 – Wii Fit

I was a little bit surprised when I saw the announcement of Wii Fit on E3 2007. Nintendo really did a great job on focusing their target market: the casual gamer 😎 For those who don’t know what Wii Fit is, it’s a fitness game for Wii using a Balance Board. A post from wiifit.net gives a very good explanation about Wii Fit.

However, when I had a look at the comments on some popular gaming blogs like Joystiq or Kotaku, most of the gamers seem didn’t like what Nintendo did. Some said that Nintendo doesn’t make any ‘real games’ and starts abandoning the hardcore gamers.

Well, the first thing came on my on my mind seeing those negative comments was maybe they’re American gamers. What American gamer thinks about video games is someone sitting on a coach, pressing the gamepad buttons (or keyboard and mouse), and staring the monitor for hours. I mean, we, European gamers, are used to this ‘not-so-video-game’ game. We have Eye Toy Play series, Eye Toy Kinetic series (my favorite one 😉 ), Buzz series, and the Europe’s most lovable Singstar 🙂

For me, Wii Fit is another good reason why I have to buy Wii 😀

I do believe that we can do sport (or some gamers called it ‘fake sport’) using video game and I really do it (see my previous blog). I’ve done Eye Toy Kinetic and 2 weeks ago, I just finished my 16-week program of Eye Toy Kinetic Combat. I used to play Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) but I realized that it didn’t work out my upper body and posture. Try Eye Toy Kinetic Series and you’ll see the result within two weeks. It’s time to write a review about Kinetic Combat 😉
