I Do Gaming for Sport

I am always confused if someone asks me, ‘what kind of sport do you do?’ If I answer Eye Toy Kinetic and Pilates, they would ask again, ‘what’s Eye Toy?’ It was quite hard to explain them that you can do sport using video game especially if they had a bad image of video gamer (soda addicts boys, sitting on their couch, playing dark and violent games) 😯

The fact is I really do Eye Toy Kinetic for sport (and also Pilates). I ‘graduated’ the 12-week program from the first Eye Toy Kinetic one year ago. Now I am playing the second version, The Eye Toy Kinetic Combat, and I am on the 12th week of 16 week program. In the Eye Toy Kinetic series, the virtual instructor will give you a schedule which forces you to play the game 3 to 4 times a week (30 – 40 minutes each). On the Eye Toy Kinetics Combat, you only play twice a week (but one hour each) and even more challenging. I’ve been using game console to do sport since Dance Dance Revolution 2 on Playstation 1 (1999). Playing DDR twice a week (one hour each) makes me feel good but there is one big problem: It doesn’t train your upper body. Just like jogging, you still need other kind of sport to exercise the other parts of your body. If you are a programmer like me, who spends 40+ hours a week sitting in front of the computer, you really need to train your back and fix you body posture.

The first time I realize the potential of Eye Toy was when I played Eye Toy Play 2, the boxing mini game. On the next day, I feel pain on my back and chest muscle. After playing the game twice a week, I didn’t get the pain anymore and my stamina was getting better. Then I tried Eye Toy Kinetic. Eight weeks later, I was some kind of addictive to sport and start doing Pilates to strengthen my stomach and back.

Eye Toy really helps you building a good habit of doing sports regularly. Once you have the habit, you’ll find yourself uncomfortable skipping those work outs.

If you love doing indoor sports or going to gym, then give this game a try. I strongly suggest you to try the Eye Toy Kinetic first before you try the Eye Toy Combat. And remember to have fun with this game 🙂
