A good dinner makes you sleep better

I seldom write for my blog lately. It’s because that I’ve been busy programming my demo game (not a good excuse 😐 ). I plan to finish it before the end of this month so I can start sending my CV & application letters this May.

So the last 2 weeks, I’ve been working like hell.  Almost 10 hours a day. So does my wife, doing her Master Thesis. We were three months in Indonesia and couldn’t work at all (http://abiamy.com/abiyasablogs/2007/02/26/i-am-back/). That’s why no matter how fast we’re moving, we’re still three month behind schedule. But it’s better than nothing.

Busy working

So since last week, we only eat instant foods we had.

But not tonight 🙂

We decided to cook Spaghetti Bolognese. The recipe is from Astrid’s dad. We put more shredded carrots than the minced meat and simmered the sauce with a glass of red wine for 40 minutes. Boil a half box of whole grain spaghetti, prepare two glasses of nice red wine, and don’t forget the grated parmesan cheese. Yummy 😛

We always enjoy good (and healthy) food and it is very important for us. That’s why we try our best allocating money for some special meals. At least once a month. Too bad that means there will even less beer garden or cocktail with our friends since we really cannot afford it.

Now, I feel so relax but successfully force myself to write something. Time to sleep now. Goodnight 😉

Awareness of Death & War

Last night, I had a strange dream. Usually, people forget the details of their dreams but somehow I don’t.

In my dream, I was a soldier, and we were on a shore, waiting for our enemy’s ships to appear and supposed to destroy and sink them down. There were about 200 persons on the ground.

Thirty minutes waiting and the enemy’s ships haven’t arrived yet, but somehow people start feeling the fear of death. The guy on my right told me that he’s really scared. And if he got out there alive, he wanted to be a sculpturer, something that he had been dreaming to be. And then, people start telling each other about their dreams, things that they wanted to do, something that they regretted, and the people that they really love. Until I woke up from my dream, the enemies never appeared.

Well, that’s what you got when you’re just finish reading ‘Veronika Decides to Die‘ (by Paulo Coelho) before going to bed.

People would blame the field commander for not doing his job motivating his troops but I think that’s just natural. People start appreciating their life (and the person that they love) during the end of their life.

FYI, I don’t play war-theme games. I hate them. That’s why I was so sad when Gear of Wars was voted as the best game for 2006. But I wasn’t surprised. I just know that this is the trend of game industry right now.

Most gamers think war is about glorious and fights for freedom, but I think war is the biggest tragedy for humankind. No matter which side wins, they both lose.

Peace Bro!

Kiyosaki & Trump in one Book!!

Yup, they’re Robert Kiyosaki & Donald Trump and they just published a book “Why We Want You To Be Rich: Two Men One Message”

Why We Want You To Be Rich

Wow! 😯

Haven’t read it yet since I’m still busy making my chibi contra game but I just want to share the excitement when I got the book this morning 🙂 Ordered it from Amazon.de 2 days ago.

I have followed Kiyosaki’s books since the “Rich Dad Poor Dad”, even played his Cashflow 101 board game. His book is one of the business & motivational books which inspires me to be an entrepreneur.

Donald Trump is one of the entrepreneurs whom I admire (second after  Sir Richard Branson 😉 ). I really love his show “The Apprentice”, his business articles, and also his life as a celebrity, full of glamour 😎

So if you’re a fan of “Trump’s The Apprentice” and “Rich Dad” Series, check out this book and buy it 😉 !

Finally it’s over

I am just back from Berlin 2 days ago and still tired. We were three days in Berlin, went there one day before the final and back to Bremen one day after. At Berlin, we walked around the city, seeing the landmarks, window shopping at one of the biggest mall in Europe (Ka De Ve), and of course went to the Olympia Stadion and FIFA Fan Festival.

Usually we start moving from 9 AM and back home at 1 AM. And we watched the final match at Adidas Arena, a public viewing near the Fan Festival. Oh, those lack-of-sleep days 🙂

Now the world cup is over.

Sometimes I just can’t believe. It’s like wake up from a long good dream. Something that I had waited for almost three years is over now. That’s also one of the main reasons why I picked German for my next study 🙂

But life goes on. Now I can concentrate doing my stuff: learning DirectX, doing some graphics & character design, creating games (and playing games too), finding job in game industry, and yes, of course my master thesis.

I only got four months to do them all before I got home to Indonesia for my brother’s wedding. Four months, huh 😐

Aja Aja Fighting!!

The Last Zidane's Super Move

The last ‘Super Move’ from Zidane. But we will always remember you as a great player! Sayonara, Zidane!

I got this from the Internet, somewhere, I forget where. Someone puts Street Fighter effect on this incident. But this gif image inspires me to make a game about buttheading and football. Well, we’ll see..

Abi Amy Games is closed

Finally, I am done with Abi Amy Games closing page. I used Photoshop for the page layout, and Illustrator for the ‘door’ picture. Man, it’s been more than a year since I used Photoshop for slicing things.

Abi Amy Games is closed

Actually, this site has been inactive since 2004. I was quite sad for closing Abi Amy Games. I quited my job for doing the things that I love: making games (and play them too 😉 ). We used J2ME when it was still the early version (MIDP 1.0). Buying fax machine for our small office. Dealing with person from the content providers. Finding artist for the game graphics. Aah, those lovely 2 years.

The business was never been profitable.

But I never regret my decision creating Abi Amy Games. I learn a lot. Really a lot. From the business part, management, how to deal and negotiate with other company, graphics and game design, until the technology part. But the most important is that I know what my dream is and I am not afraid to pursue it. Even if I fail, now or tomorrow, I will bounce and struggle back. Until I achieve my dream.
